Friday morning on October 23, 2009, in Hart County, Georgia, a school bus and a Chevrolet Cavalier were involved in an auto accident. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened in front of North Hart Elementary School at GA Highway 77 and Ankerich Road in Bowersville, Georgia. The school bus was traveling westbound on Kiley Road. The Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling southbound on GA Highway 77.

The Hart County Sheriff's Office deputy on the scene had her blue lights flashing, yellow traffic vest and orange gloves on and her flashlight with an orange cone on it. The deputy was directing traffic, and she motioned for the Chevrolet Cavalier to stop for the school bus to come across to North Hart Elementary School. The driver of the vehicle did not pay attention to the deputy, continued traveling through the intersection, and was struck on the drivers side by the school bus.

The driver of the Chevrolet Cavalier was transported to Greenville Hospital System for severe injuries sustained in the accident.

According to the Hart County Schools Transportation Director, Ronald Franklin, no injuries were reported for the children nor the bus driver.
