According to USA Today, school districts across the nation are testing out video cameras to prevent drivers from passing school buses that are loading or unloading children. School districts in Dallas County, Texas, Montgomery County and Frederick County in Maryland and Cobb County, Georgia is the latest counties to test cameras on school buses.

The Associate Director of Fleet Maintenance for Cobb County School District, states an accident in December 2009 occurred when a kindergarten girl was ran over by a vehicle when the bus was unloading students. This prompted them to install video cameras on two of their school buses. The digital video system costs between $1,500 and $1,800 plus $200 for stop-arm cameras.
