March 18, 2008 - Villa Rica, Ga., located along the Carroll County, Douglas County border on I-20, has experienced a slow-down in growth in recent years. City officials are predicting that there will only be one-hundred and forty-six construction permits issued for the fiscal year April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009. This is down from three-hundred eighty-eight last year, and six-hundred two years ago.
According to The Times Georgian, the city’s building inspector Jennifer Thorn said "The forecast is awful. The builders are either not selling, not coming back or going under. Then again, we have one builder at Charleston Place who plans on building 20 this year, and at Brandywine they plan on building 20 or 30."
This slow down in growth is likely to ease traffic concerns in Villa Rica which has seen its problem with growth in recent years.
