Student dies from injuries in an accident.

November 13, 2007 - Lithia Springs High School senior for the Class of 2008 died in a car crash on November 1, 2007. The Senior class is raising money to help pay for the funeral expenses for their classmate Matthew Lewis. Lithia Springs High School Principal Larry Ruble said donations can be brought to the school or mailed to Lithia Springs High School for the Matthew Lewis fund. Mr. Lewis’s accident happened on Brunt Hickory Road near Greystone Power Corporation. According to GA State Patrol, Matthew Lewis’ vehicle was traveling north when he attempted to pass another vehicle, lost control, crossed the southbound lane, hit a utility pole guy wire and flipped back onto the roadway. He was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta where he died. Matthew Lewis was a successful high school student, a member of the National Honor Society, Board Scholar, and had a dual seal in foreign language and business.
