Sylvester, Georgia, experienced tragedy Wednesday when a woman from Albany was killed and three others were taken to the hospital following a Worth County car accident, according to J.D. Sumner of the Albany Herald online. According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Lisa Stocks, Lasheena Weston was killed when her 1989 Pontiac Grand Am left the roadway just two miles from the Dougherty County line shortly after 4:00 p.m., and her three passengers, two of them children, were ejected from the car in the crash. Jocelyn Jackson, 20, along with 6-year old Ashantis Boyd and 5-year-old Nyasia Jackson, were transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany after Weston’s vehicle flipped multiple times, but all three of them were released as of Thursday afternoon. Although Weston was belted and was not ejected from the Pontiac in the crash, she died as a result of injuries from the serious car accident. Sheriff Freddie Tompkins reported that one of the children may have been transported to an Atlanta trauma center for more treatment, but that detail is not confirmed. The fatal accident is still under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
