Testimonials

  • I don’t have any medical bills, I’m receiving revenue for my pain and suffering, and I’m very appreciative. I am truly satisfied with the results of my case.
  • "The best part about having James Murphy as my workers' compensationlawyer is that I have someone to speak for me..."
  • The initial phone call made me feel as though they really cared. They made us feel like a number, and Murphy & Associates didn't. My wife and I have never gone through something like this before and accidents can be devastating to a family because of loss of income, pain and suffering.
  • Murphy & Associates made my experience fast and easy, and got the job done.
  • Murphy & Associates Car Accident Law firm is professional, efficient, and a pleasant experience doing business with.
  • I was involved in a rear-end collision while stopped at a red light. Mr. Murphy and his staff guided me through this long process from obtaining medical treatment to settling with the other party's insurance company.

Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic Claims Causes Fatal Accidents in Georgia

According to  the Georgia State Patrol, as of late Friday, November 29, there have been 1,028 accidents resulting in 262 injuries and four deaths on Georgia roadways. The four deaths occured in Blue Ridge, Sylvania, Newnan and Hinesville.  According to The Gainesville Times, the state patrol predicted that 19 highway deaths would occur during this year’s Thanksgiving travel period.  Twenty-seven people died on Georgia roadways during the same Thanksgiving holiday travel period last year.  Shortly before the beginning of the travel period for Thanksgiving, two fatal accidents occurred in the Northeast Georgia area.  At 9 a.m. Wednesday, a Stockbridge resident 46, was killed when her vehicle left the I-85 roadway near Martin's Bridge Road in Banks County and caught on fire after crashing into trees.  At 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, a man of 89 years living in Cleveland, died in a White County car accident after a GMC Envoy. The highest number of traffic fatalities recorded for the travel period associated with Thanksgiving was 43 in 1969.  The lowest number of fatalities was four in 1949.

In Georgia, 111 people have died in car accidents during Thanksgiving holiday travel periods with 7,365 injuries resulting from a reported 18,823 wrecks over the past six years.

According to traffic crash data from last year's Thanksgiving travel period, 13 of the 27 people killed in accidents were not wearing seat belts.  Eight of the reported fatalities involved drivers who were driving under the influence.  Although Georgia has the highest "safety belt compliance rate" in the southeastern part of the United States, the director of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety hopes to reduce many of the traffic fatalities that occur annually by enforcing seat belt laws.
