Early this morning, two people were seriously injured in a car accident on the Downtown Connector in Atlanta, Georgia. According to the Atlanta Police Department, the accident occurred when a man was traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-75/I-85. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when he hit a woman who was traveling in the southbound lane on the Downtown Connector. The car accident left both drivers entrapped in their vehicles.

Both drivers were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in the accident. The man involved received severe head injuries and the woman received severe internal injuries.

The accident closed all lanes of the Downtown Connector southbound as the accident was being investigated and the debris from the wreck was being cleaned up.

After the investigation, the man was arrested for reckless driving, serious injury by vehicle and driving the wrong way. The police suspect the man was driving under the influence but he was not charged with that.
