
Fred Mills, Music Professor at UGA was killed in a single car accident off U.S. 78 in Monroe on Monday September 7, 2009. Mills, 70 years old was traveling eastbound where he overturned after running off the road. Mills was known as a renowned trumpeter and was the founder of The Canadian Brass. Mills also performed in the New York City Opera and was a member of Houston Symphony Orchestra and the American Symphony Orchestra in New York. Mills had been a faculty member at UGA since 1996 where he taught trumpet and coached a graduate brass quintet known as The Bulldog Brass Society.
