University of West Georgia Mourns Tragic Death of Football Player | Carrollton Accident Attorney

A Saturday evening car accident on I-85 killed a University of West Georgia football player and seriously injured two other occupants of the vehicle, according to university police and Channel 2 Action News.  The University of West Georgia's sports website reports that 21-year-old Willie Pitts and 18-year-old Calvin Dennis, both UWG football players, were headed home to Tallahassee, Florida, for spring break when their vehicle overturned and struck a tree after hydroplaning in on the slick interstate around 11:30 p.m.  Pitts, a defensive lineman for the Wolves, was killed due to the tragic wreck.  University of West Georgia wide receiver Calvin Dennis and his father, driver Hillary Dennis, sustained injuries in the I-85 crash and were listed in serious condition in the intensive car unit at East Alabama Medical Center at the time of the report.  According to the site, UWG head football coach Darryl Dickey, who is also serving as the interim athletic director, rushed to the hospital Sunday to visit Calvin Dennis.
