Douglasville native Raymond Powell, 22, was killed Saturday evening in a Putnam County car accident on U.S. 441, according to Liz Fabian of the Macon news website. The site reports that Powell’s 2004 Ford Explorer ran off the roadway and struck a tree around 9:00 p.m. just north of Eatonton near Morgan County on November 29. According to Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills, Powell was a soldier in the U.S. Army stationed at Augusta’s Fort Gordon. Fabian writes that the victim was one of 15 killed in fatal accidents on Georgia roads over the travel period for this Thanksgiving’s holiday weekend.
