Woman killed, deputy injured in accident.

November 16, 2007 - A Douglas County deputy, responding to a Wednesday night armed robbery call at Arbor Place Mall jewelry store, lost control of his vehicle and hit another car head-on, killing the driver. The driver of the other vehicle was Tammy L. Barnwell, 44, of Douglasville, and manager of Walmart in Douglasville. Deputy Chris Black was traveling north on Georgia Highway 5 when he lost control of his patrol car near Downs Road. The patrol car crossed the center line, striking a Honda Accord driven by Tammy L. Barnwell. Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch. A passing motorist hit some debris in the road, noticed the accident and called 911. Ms. Barnwell was said to be dead at the scene. Chris Black suffered broken bones and other non life-threatening injuries. This car accident is still in investigation.
