
In the early morning hours of Saturday November 17, 2009 Cherie Nicole Mitchell swerved to miss a deer and ended up going down a forty foot embankment landing against a tree. The ordeal which began around 1:00 in the morning ended at daybreak. Ms. Mitchell was pinned and severely injured in the vehicle. She was traveling in a 2006 Dodge Dakota on Miller Academy Road when the incident occurred.
According to Trooper Chris Wigginton who responded to the scene and noted that the damage to the vehicle was quite horrific. Many departments worked together to rescue Mitchell who was flown to Atlanta to Grady Hospital with multiple fractures of the lower extremities.
