A Bainbridge area car accident left one young woman with serious injuries early Sunday morning, according to Brennan Leathers of the Post-Searchlight online. The two-car accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. near the Decatur County and Baker County border on Georgia 253 North. In the crash, Leathers reports, Bainbridge resident Larsen E. Wilkinson, 21, sustained serious injuries after the vehicle of 18-year-old Santarious Romero Nelson left the highway, drifted into the shoulder, rotated, and struck Wilkinson's car after veering into the southbound lane of the highway. Wilkinson was transported by ambulance to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, and she was reportedly still undergoing treatment as of Tuesday. According to Leathers, Larsen graduated from Bainbridge High School and currently plays tennis for Young Harris College in North Georgia. She had to undergo surgery for two broken legs sustained in the crash, says her uncle. Nelson received a citation for failing to maintain the lane.
