The leading causes of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) are:

• Falls: Approximately 28 percent of new brain injuries every year are caused by Slip-and-Fall accidents. The leading cause of brain injury for adults over the age of 75 and children under the age of four are Falls.

• Struck By/Against Events: 19 percent of brain injuries are caused by Struck by/against events, in which the head is jolted by a collision with a stationary or moving object.

• Motor Vehicle Accidents: Auto accidents account for 20 percent of brain injuries.

• Assaults: Violent encounters account for 11 percent of brain injuries.
