Guangmao Nie, age 68, was reported to be in serious condition after the bicycle that he was riding collided with a van Friday morning, October 3, in Kathleen,  Georgia.  The accident occured at about 8 a.m. on Audrey Way in Kathleen, according to  the Houston County sheriff's office.

According to police, Mr. Nie was exiting his driveway when he was struck by a van. The driver of the van was identified as Lisa Reed.  Ms Reed apparently was driving below the speed limit of 25mph.  She could not have avoided the accident, according to the sheriff's department's report.  Ms. Reed was not injured and no charges are expected.

The website says the national average was 92 percent for nursing homes that violated regulations. In the report by the Inspector General’s Office, Georgia was listed as having 375 licensed nursing homes that hold a total of 40,649 beds. The average number of violations per nursing home in Georgia amounted to 6.5 percent (compared to the national average of 7 percent). Despite these negative statistics, the state of Georgia actually reduced its percentage of homes with violations from 95 percent prior to 2007 to the recently reported 88 percent.

The Georgia State Patrol in Perry, Georgia, reported that the tractor-trailer was hauling chickens at the time of the crash, which occurred around 3:00a.m. According to authorities, grease from the melted chicken fat created a road hazard, and work crews had to clear the unusual debris along with the burned-out truck. Although the cause of the accident is still under investigation, the Perry State Patrol post reported that the truck may have caught fire after it was side-swiped by another vehicle on I-75.

According to Lewis Levine of The Coastal Courier, the police car was only scratched in the crash, but the incident became more serious when Troutman found a plastic bag of marijuana in the road after moving Walthour’s vehicle. After further investigation, 4 grams of marijuana were found in Walthour’s car and his passenger’s pants pocket, a misdemeanor amount in Georgia (leading to possible fines and probation). Five beer bottles and two bottles of gin (one of them open) were also found. According to passenger Chuckie Youmans, 17, the marijuana was his. He was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor, violation of open container law, and possession of marijuana.

After the two-car collision, one of the injured was taken by helicopter to Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital, and the other two were taken in an ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Although no injuries were reported, officials ensured that drivers whose vehicles were low on gas stayed off the roadway. Even side roads were reported to have experienced significant delays. The CBS 46 website reports that the tractor-trailer crashed and was a Tyson Foods truck hauling frozen chicken.

The Warner Robbins teenager faces first-degree vehicular homicide charges. This arrest is almost five months after a fatal wreck on I-475 which killed 19-year-old Kelly Hill, according to Leah Johnson with Eyewitness News at 11.
The following was reported by Stephanie Susskin and shows why the investigation took so long before the arrest of Edger Zaldua:

Back on APRIL 27, 2008...the police reported a terrible car accident on I-475 in Bibb County. According to investigators, KELLY HILL AND EDGAR ZALDUA, who were riding in the same car, were thrown from the vehicle when it went off the road and hit a tree.  Ms. Hill  was dead at the scene. According to one of the investigators, Zaldua called someone to pick him up and take him to a local hospital.  However, evidence from the scene and injuries sustained by Zaldua lead investigators to conclude that Zaldua was the driver of the car, not Ms. Hill.  Zaldua had previously tried to convince police that Hill was driving the car at the time of the accident. Test results from blood and hair samples took a while to come back, which is-- in part-- why the arrest of Zaldua took so long.  According to the Bibb County DA's office ZALDUA'S blood alcohol level was above the legal limit for DUI when the accident occured.  Zaldua was denied bond at his first court appearance.  He faces up to to fifteen years to serve for 1st-degree vehiclar homocide.

An Adel, Georgia, woman was unharmed after her car went off the road on Thursday, September 18 and went into a pond.  According to the Georgia State Patrol, Tabatha Smith of  Adel,  Ga was driving on Industrial Road when her car went off the road at about 9:00pm that morning.  According to John Oxford of the Moultrie Observer, the Nissan Altima that Ms. Smith was driving went into a pond and hit a tree.  After the car went into the pond, it began to fill with water.   Ms. Smith then became trapped in the vehicle.  The Moultrie Fire Department and the GA State Patrol were called to the scene following the accident, and Smith was safely removed from the car.  Fortunately Ms. Smith was not injured, cited, or charged with any offense.

In a report from the Georgia State Patrol, the golf cart was said to be traveling from a private drive to cross Highway 43 when it was hit by a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The driver of the Chevrolet, 29-year-old Steven Fendley, saw the golf cart but was unable to stop his vehicle in time to avoid a collision. Brittney Johnson, 25, and four others were injured in the golf cart during the crash and transported to the Medical College of Georgia hospital.

As reported by the website, a Los Angeles Metrolink commuter train slammed into a freight train during rush hour, leading to the 25 deaths and also 135 injuries, with at least nine of the injured in critical condition. It took almost an entire day to recover the bodies due to the severity of the accident. According to a Metrolink spokesperson, it is suspected that the engineer of the commuter train did not stop at a red signal, and Mlive.com reports that the NTSB will be examining the deceased engineer’s cell phone records and that of two fourteen-year-olds who told CBS2-TV that they received a text message from him moments before the crash.

According to witnesses ,a Ford Truck driven by Linda Charpin was traveling south near the town of Avalon when the Honda which was going north crossed the center line.  Matthew Disspain, Ms. Charpin's son, said that his mother did not have time to avoid the head-on collision. There were no skid marks noted at the scene, according to a report by Robin Dake, WNEG AM-630.

Stephens County Hospital admitted Ms. Charpin and her husband with injuries.  As of Tuesday evening, the driver of the Ford F-150 truck had not been identified.  However she was reported to be air-lifted to a hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. Information about her condition was not available from officials as of Tuesday evening.  State Trooper John Crawford of the Georgia State Patrol reported these facts, but the investigation has not yet revealed why the Honda crossed the center line. The accident delayed traffic on Ga. 17 going in both directions.

This past Tuesday, September 9, Clarence Lucas of Courtland Avenu in Macon, Georgia, was ejected from his vehicle and brought to The Medical Center of Central Georgia for treatment. The incident occured Tuesday afternoon on Rivoli Drive in Macon.  Unfortunely, Mr. Lucas died as a result of injuries, and it was reported that he was pronounced dead this morning, September 12, at The Medical Center of Central Georgia by the Bibb County Coroner.

According to investigators, Clarence Lucas was traveling on Rivoli Drove near Luck Debonair Drive when it appears that he lost control of his car, suffering serious injury as a result. This accident was reported by Ashley Tusan Joyner of the Macon Telegraph.

Poice are encouraging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.  This reporte is according to Kim Sloan of the The Dailey Citizen.  It was reported that Courtney Marisa Adcock was helping to repair a vehicle in a southbound lane of I-75 near an exit for the town of Carbondale when she was struck by the tractor trailor at about 10:00 p.m. The driver of the truck, Patrick Arnold of Dayton, Ohio, was attempting to merge over from the right lane after seeing the disabled car on the side of the road when his truck overturned onto all three lanes of I-75.

Ms. Adcock's two-year-old son was sleeping in the car when the incident occured. A student at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Mr.  Richardson was traveling south on Highway 25 when his Ford F-150 truck moved into the median, said Sgt. J.M. Lamb of the Georgia State Patrol. It appeared that he (Mr. Richardson) over-corrected and swerved onto the right shoulder and into a ditch, where the truck flipped, according to Sgt. Lamb.

Of course, when a school bus stops to pick up children, you're supposed to stop, but the driver of a white jeep did not slow down and struck young Omar, knocking him to the ground.  According to his cousin and two sisters, young Omar lay on the ground, but was conscious after the accident and, at first, did not want to go to the hospital in an ambulance. Instead he wanted to go to school because he likes school so much. "Yeah, he likes school, that's why," his cousin said. Gomez was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he was reported in stable condition. This report is according to Kevin Rowson with 11 Alive News.

Ms. DeShan Fishel has just dropped her daughter off at high school and was behind the bus when Omar was hit. "He kept on going and going so I turned around, did a u-turn and took after him," Fishel said. She reportedly followed the jeep while she was on the phone with 911.  Local police said that Ms. Fishel was instrumental in helping them capture the hit-and-run driver.

When told not to let the driver get out of her sight during the 911 call, Ms. Fishel replied, "Oh, I'm not going to. I chased him down. I'm not gonna let him go anywhere." Police called Fishel a hero but, modestly, Fishel said,  "All I could think about was the little kid getting hit and thinking about this person getting away with it."  The suspect who was apprehended and arrested was ninteen-year-old Gary Woosline.  Police charged him with failure to stop and failure to report an accident. His bond for release was twelve hundred dollars.

A woman was killed late Friday, September 5, after a hit-and-run accident near the town of Unionville, located near Macon, Georgia.  A man also was also seriously injured. The police in Macon are still investigating the incident, according to Ashley Tusan Joyner of the Macon Telegraph. The incident occurred in the 1400 block of Berkner Avenue about 9p.m. Friday night.
The woman and man were both  transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia, where the woman died. The injured man was last known to be in critical condition.  According to police, the injured parties were probably members of the neighborhood. Their names were not immediately available.  There were as many as forty people outside of their homes in the vicinity where the incident occured. It was further reported that a Macon police officer fired at the car that refused to stop.  The vehicle fled the scene, and no arrests have been made yet.

Garner, a staff writer with the AJC.  Union City police spokesman George Louth stated that  "A Chevrolet Tahoe going east on South Fulton Parkway hit a Chevrolet Lumina turning into the oncoming traffic from Mason Road." Mr. Louth, who has been with the Union City police for many years, was quoted as saying that  “This is the worst car fatality that he can remember."  Two children in the Lumina were dead on the scene, and a thirty-six-year-old woman and a sixteen year old girl in the Lumina were airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. The woman later passed away while in the emergency room, Louth said. The teenager remained in serious condition as of Sunday morning, and the driver of the Tahoe was taken by ambulance to South Fulton Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Commenting on the roadway, Mr. Louth pointed out that “There’s not a blind spot,” but he added that “it is difficult to see for drivers crossing South Fulton’s westbound lane to turn left into eastbound traffic flow from Mason Road."  The police spokesman said that city and DOT officials have considered installing a traffic light at the busy intersection. As of Sunday morning, police were continuing to investigate this tragic incident.

According to www.11alive.com, an accident involving two tractor-trailer trucks on Georgia Highway 316 eastbound near Harbins Road killed one person whose name has yet to be released. Also on August 20, multiple people sustained injuries and all lanes of Interstate 85 north of Senoia Road were blocked due to a collision between a tractor-trailer and another truck. Another I-85 wreck involved a tractor trailer that caught fire and continued to leak fuel, blocking all northbound lanes of the roadway in the area.  I-20 in Atlanta experienced a similar accident when a tractor-trailer truck overturned on the ramp to I-285.

According to www.myfoxatlanta.com, the crash occurred on I-85 in Atlanta near Union City when Galardo and another driver weaved in and out of lanes racing at over 100 miles per hour. Galardo’s black Mitsubishi Eclipse then slammed into an SUV while going over 100mph, causing multiple vehicles to spin and careen across the northbound lanes. Upon impact, the SUV that was hit flipped, leaving its driver, 61-year-old Linda Wiglesworth, trapped, upside-down, as another vehicle struck her Explorer. Suffering serious injuries as a result of the crash, Wiglesworth was taken to Atlanta Medical Center immediately. Both racers fled the scene– Galardo on foot and the other in his vehicle (believed to be a white Dodge Neon). The 24-year-old illegal immigrant, after turning himself in, was arrested Thursday night and faces racing, hit-and-run, and driving without a license charges. Police do not know how Galardo was able to register his vehicle and obtain Fulton County tags without a license.
