2010 Labor Day Weekend Auto Accidents

Date: 2010 Labor Day Weekend - September 3rd - September 6th

According to the Georgia state officials, thirteen people passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident on Georgia roads this Labor Day weekend. There were fatal accidents in Atlanta, DeKalb County, Cherokee County and nine other auto accidents happened outside the Atlanta metro area. In 2009, there were 1,917 car accidents with 867 injuries and fifteen fatalities during the Labor Day weekend. The totals for 2010 Labor Day weekend are not yet available.

Since August 20, 2010, Georgia state officials and troopers have joined together in Operation Zero Tolerance across Georgia against impaired drivers.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, at least four motor-vehicle accidents that happened this weekend, may have involved an alcohol or drug-impaired driver.
