Testimonials

  • I don’t have any medical bills, I’m receiving revenue for my pain and suffering, and I’m very appreciative. I am truly satisfied with the results of my case.
  • "The best part about having James Murphy as my workers' compensationlawyer is that I have someone to speak for me..."
  • The initial phone call made me feel as though they really cared. They made us feel like a number, and Murphy & Associates didn't. My wife and I have never gone through something like this before and accidents can be devastating to a family because of loss of income, pain and suffering.
  • Murphy & Associates made my experience fast and easy, and got the job done.
  • Murphy & Associates Car Accident Law firm is professional, efficient, and a pleasant experience doing business with.
  • I was involved in a rear-end collision while stopped at a red light. Mr. Murphy and his staff guided me through this long process from obtaining medical treatment to settling with the other party's insurance company.

Things You Should Never Say After a Car Accident in Georgia (Part A)

After a car accident in Georgia, you may feel compelled to explain yourself to the other driver, the police officer, or your insurance provider’s claims adjuster, and while these compulsions may come from a well-meaning place, saying too much after a car accident may damage the likelihood that you receive a favorable Georgia injury claim settlement.

Why Saying Too Much Can Hurt Your Georgia Injury Claim

Personal injury cases, such as the kind that generally follow car accidents, are complicated matters, but they are similar to criminal cases in that evidence is collected and fault (or liability) is assessed. And, just like in a criminal case, when you say something that in any way indicates you may be liable for the accident, it may be documented and then later used against you.

So when you feel inclined to blurt out an apology to the other driver; don’t. Even if you’re only trying to be polite or conciliatory, that simple gesture can be used against you.

Other things you should generally avoid saying after an accident in Georgia:
  • “I think…” Don’t speculate on things and don’t make estimations. Unless you’re certain about a fact, just say that you don’t know. There’s nothing wrong with that.
  • Any recorded or official statement to the adjuster. They will ask for a recorded statement, but you are well within your rights to simply say no.
  • “I’m OK.” Some injuries don’t manifest until days or weeks after the time of the accident, so get checked out first; and
  • doctor’s names or the contact information of friends and family members. Insurance companies don’t need this information, though they may ask.
Protect your insurance claim by contacting a Georgia injury claim attorney who has the dedication and experience to help you through this frustrating process so that you can get back on your feet and on with your life.
