What is Post Concussion Syndrome?

By definition post concussion syndrome also known as post concussive syndrome or PCS, is symptoms of a concussion following a mild traumatic brain injury. Loss of consciousness is not always present. Symptoms of a concussion which are often present in PCS are headaches, dizziness and sometimes confusion. In many PCS cases these symptoms may occur in the first seven to ten days and may last anywhere from a few weeks to several months. The severity of the initial injury is not a determining factor for PCS.

This type of disorder is often seen in individuals who have been involved in auto accidents and have received a mild head injury. The risk of developing this disorder is more likely in women and elderly people.
