May 29, 2011 - Temple, GA - A 2-vehicle crash involving a Carroll County school bus and a car was apparently caused by a sleeping driver.
According to Times-georgian.com the incident occurred on May 25 around 7 a.m. when a Carroll County school bus left Temple, heading to Villa Rica Middle School. Driving along Interstate 20, the bus only contained the driver and her school-age child, which is not uncommon according to Carroll County Schools spokeswoman Elena Schulenburg.
As the bus drove on it was struck from behind by a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt whose driver had apparently fallen asleep behind the wheel. Georgia State Patrol Trooper Terry Thompson responded to the incident and charged the Chevy driver with following too closely.
Luckily both drivers and the child sustained no injuries in the crash.
School bus accidents are often difficult cases to work with as they involve filing a claim against government entities. If your child is injured while riding on or waiting for their school bus you should contact a Carroll County car accident attorney with experience in school bus accidents.
