Event: Cop Stops Vehicle In School Zone While Driver Has Seizure, Cop Injured

According to Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy was able to stop a car after a Fayette County driver suffered a seizure behind the wheel in a school zone. The deputy was directing traffic outside of Whitewater Middle School on GA 85, when he gestured for an oncoming car to stop. The vehicle was traveling at a slow speed, but did not come to a halt.

The deputy noticed that something was wrong with the driver and as the car passed he grabbed the door handle and pulled the door open and attempted to bring the vehicle to a stop. The officer managed to stop the car while still in the lane of traffic.

The officer injured his right leg while stopping the vehicle. The driver is in good condition, and no children were injured in the incident.
