Title: Multi-Vehicle Accidents on I-16E Injures Three Macon-Bibb County Firefighters
According to Georgia State Patrol, the eastbound lanes of Interstate 16 were closed due to several accidents. Three Macon-Bibb County Firefighters and a fourth man were injured during the three wrecks. The first accident involved a tractor trailer and a car and that first accident resulted in a second crash between a charter bus and a SUV.
The Georgia State Patrol and Macon-Bibb County Fire Department arrived at the scene of the accidents. As the fire department was prepping to leave the scene, two other tractor trailers crashed together. One of the tractor trailers hit the right rear of the Macon-Bibb County Fire truck and caused three firefighters to be injured. The firefighters were not in the truck at the time of the accident.
The firefighters and the driver of the 18-wheeler were taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia for treatment of their injuries stemming from the accident.
