Pedestrian Killed on I-75/85 Running from Police Officer

According to authorities, a pedestrian was killed on Friday night on Interstate 75/85 in the southbound lane. The pedestrian was reported walking on the interstate, and an officer responded to the call. The officer tried to arrest the pedestrian, but he fought the officer, and dashed over the median, running straight into oncoming traffic. He was struck by a car, and the officer followed to try and help the man get out of the highway. However, the police officer was also hit by another car.

The pedestrian died on the scene, and the police officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition with bruising and broken bones, and was released Saturday night. Both drivers that hit the pedestrian and the officer stopped and stayed to give their statements.
