According to the Marietta Police Department, three members of a freight train crew were injured after their train struck a truck hauling scrap metal. The accident happened at the CSX Transportation crossing in an industrial area near Loudermilk Drive and Marble Mill Road. The train struck a recycling truck that had gotten stuck on the railroad crossing. Attempts were made to remove the truck from the tracks. The train was unable to stop and ended up T-boning the 18-wheeler.

Three train employees were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital to be examined for neck and back injuries. The truck driver was not injured in the incident.
